Often thought associated with low back and leg pain, sciatica is a set of symptoms that occur when the Sciatic Nerve is irritated. This nerve controls the muscles of the lower leg and provides sensation to the thighs, legs and soles of the feet. Most often, the symptoms develop as a result of wear on the structures of the lower spine, not injury.
- Pain in the lower back
- Pain radiating down one leg
- Mild tingling
- Dull ache
- Burning sensation
- Increased pain after sitting, standing, lying down or when coughing or laughing
Chiropractic adjustments in the low back and pelvis have been found to be extremely effective in treating sciatica.
